KAIJU REMIX SERIES第一弾として、大山竜氏原型製作の「セミ人間」がソフビ製塗装済完成品となって登場！

通称セミ人間ことチルソニア遊星人、セミがモチーフの宇宙人だから冬虫夏草が生えていたら面白いんじゃないだろうか？最初はそれくらいの感覚でした。
ですがそのイメージでこのセミ人間というキャラクターを掘り下げていくと面白いように自分の中で本編と違うストーリーや世界観が広がっていきました。
ガラモンという圧倒的な力を持った侵略兵器で街を破壊するも最後は「えっ？」という感じであっけなくやられてしまうラストがH・G・ウェルズが1898年に発表した「宇宙戦争」のラストに重なったりもしました。
造形するにあたっては、生と死という対照的かつ普遍的なテーマを意識しましたが
あまりそこにとらわれすぎず、部屋に置いて面白い形になる事を第一義に作りました。
全体のフォルムのイメージソースはエミール・ガレ作「ひとよ茸ランプ」です。その時に自分が思いついた物をどんどん盛り込んでます。
このように自由過ぎるくらいに自由に作った物が商品化される事が本当に嬉しいです。

The Chilsonia aliens, commonly known as Semi-Man, are aliens with a cicada motif, 
so I thought it would be interesting if they had cordyceps growing on them? That's how I felt at first.
But as I dug deeper into the character of the Semi-Man with that image in mind, 
a story and worldview different from the main story started to unfold in my mind in an interesting way.
The ending, in which the city is destroyed by an overwhelmingly powerful weapon of aggression called Garamon,
but is defeated in an untimely manner with a "Huh?" feeling, reminded me of the ending of "The War of the Worlds" published by H. G.Wells in 1898.
When creating the sculpture, I was conscious of the contrasting and universal theme of life and death,
but I didn't get too caught up in that and just made it look interesting when placed in a room.
The inspiration for the overall shape is Emile Gallé's "Hitoyotake Lamp." I incorporated everything that came to mind at the time.
I'm really happy that something I made with such almost too much freedom like this is now being commercialized.
